*Lale ("LAH-lay", quite similar to a relaxed pronunciation of "Lolly") Anderson's stage name of "Lale" comes from being called "la la" as a child, for her constant singing. She grew up in Bremerhaven, learning many seafarer songs there. Her German often has a very comfortable, familiar touch to my Bremerhaven-trained ears., though her voice was judged "harsh" by Berlin critics in her early performing years there.
